The LPC 11765U-13E and -1E models provide light duty protection on any voltage system up to and including 480 VRMS, single and three phase. The two models substitute for at least 15 models of individual voltage ratings, eliminating the need for many separate SPD’s in inventory.

The SPD’s mount through a ¾” knockout or use an “L” shaped bracket. The enclosure is weatherproof and may be installed in fused panels, inside equipment cabinets, or on the equipment itself.

Protection is provided in all modes, i.e. each line to neutral, each line to ground, neutral to ground, and line to line. Response is less than 5 nanoseconds and only overvoltage transients are clamped. These SPD’s do not pass follow current, and stop conduction instantaneously once the voltage returns to normal. These SPD’s are not intended for the service entrance but for use deeper within the facility where surges are expected to be less severe.

Each model consists of 5 wires, each 6” long, for connection across the system wiring: for the hot wires, 3 black wires; for the neutral, 1 white wire; for earth ground, 1 green wire. The metal enclosure has provision for the safety wire (supplied by the customer). The 5 wires protrude through a threaded ¾” nipple located in the center of the 2¾” X 4½” face.

These SPD’s are not repairable. A defective SPD fails short circuit, in which case the line/branch fuses or breakers operate. A prolonged short circuit may open, and in the process cause rupture of the SPD elements.
